About

Basic information and contact details for Nishogakusha University

institution

Nishogakshua University was established in 1997, but has its roots with the Chinese Classic Studies Academy, founded in 1877 by Chushu Mishima, a prominent Chinese classics scholar. His aim was to develop human resources to lead Japan into its new era.

The university has two main faculties: literature, and international politics and economics. Students can choose from a range of courses across these faculties, from Chinese calligraphy to international economics and business, comparative literature and culture, and art image, drama and media. It is usually in their second year that students can choose more specialised courses suited to them, the first year is devoted to giving students the fundamental knowledge to assist them throughout the course’s duration.

Across the two faculties, as well as the graduate schools, all students must complete an entrance examination before being admitted to the school.

The University’s Kudan campus is located in Chiyoda City, central Tokyo, Japan. It is the site for many transnational companies, including Hewlett-Packard, Chloé Japan, and Sidley Austin.

Nishogakusha University opened an international centre in 1995, offering international exchange programmes to students, and increasing communications with other countries. They also offer short-term language programmes with their overseas affiliated schools, study abroad information, support international students, and arrange events to encourage interaction between domestic and international students.
