Guarda is the highest and oldest city in Portugal. The former fortress town is home to the Polytechnic of Guarda, which was founded in 1980. In its four schools spread across three campuses are more than 250 teaching staff looking after about 3,000 students on its 25 bachelor’s and 15 master’s programmes. It has international links with institutions in Brazil and France. 

The polytechnic is involved in research and community service. It has a strong commitment to regional development, and it has established a Research Unit for Inland Development to support this mission. 

The Polytechnic of Guarda is near the spectacular Serra da Estrela Nature Park, a major tourist attraction and destination for nature lovers and adventurers.

The overall aim of this project is to report on the efficacy of the Architect's Accreditation Council of Australia National Standard of Competency for Architecture (NSCA). The culturally informed project aims to survey and workshop First Nations specific Performance Criteria of the NSCA with New South Wales based Indigenous communities, universities, practices, peak bodies and allied disciplines. The Senior Research Officer will help coordinate and undertake data collection, data interpretation, development of publications and organisation of annual symposiums. Experience in architecture and the built environment in relation to Country and First Nations Communities and Culture is critical to advancing the processes and outcomes of this research project. They will be expected to apply and develop their expertise in conducting research and interactive activities. Fixed-term contract and fair salary: The basic salary of EUR 5.014,30 (full-time basis/ 40h work week; 14 times a year) for a period of 6 years increases if we can credit professional experience.
