Princeton is one of the oldest universities in the US and is regarded as one of the world’s most illustrious higher education institutions.

Founded in 1746 as the College of New Jersey, it was officially renamed Princeton University in 1896 in honour of the area where it is based, opening its famous graduate school in 1900.

Acclaimed for its commitment to teaching, the Ivy League institution offers residential accommodation to all of its undergraduates across all four years of study, with 98 per cent of undergraduates living on campus.

Its student body is relatively small, with fewer than 10,000 in total, and international students make up 12 per cent of undergraduates.

Princeton is also one of the world’s foremost research universities with connections to more than 40 Nobel laureates, 17 winners of the National Medal of Science and five recipients of the National Humanities Medal.

Faculty members who have been awarded a Nobel prize in recent years include chemists Tomas Lindahl and Osamu Shimomura, economists Paul Krugman and Angus Deaton and physicists Arthur McDonald and David Gross.

Notable alumni who have won a Nobel prize include the physicists Richard Feynman and Robert Hofstadter and chemists Richard Smalley and Edwin McMillan.

Princeton has also educated two US presidents, James Madison and Woodrow Wilson, who was also the university’s president prior to entering the White House. Other distinguished graduates include Michelle Obama, actors Jimmy Stewart and Brooke Shields, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Apollo astronaut Pete Conrad.

Princeton, which is consistently ranked among the world’s top 10 universities, is renowned for its campus’ park-like beauty as well as some of its landmark buildings, designed by some of America’s most well-known architects. For instance, its Lewis Library was designed by Frank Gehry and contains many of the university’s science collections. Its McCarter Theatre Center has won a Tony Award for the best regional theatre in the country.

Spread across 500 acres, the Princeton campus has about 180 buildings, including 10 libraries containing about 14 million holdings. It is popular with visitors, with about 800,000 people visiting its open campus each year, generating about $2 billion in revenue.

The Princeton area, which has a population of about 30,000 residents, is also something of a destination itself, with many attracted by its tree-lined streets and wide variety of shops, restaurants and parks.

The university is within easy reach of both New York City and Philadelphia, with the “Dinky” shuttle train providing a regular service lasting about one hour to both cities. Princeton regularly subsidises many student trips to concerts, plays and athletic events in the two cities.

Description The Laboratory for Computer-Human Intelligence (CHI-lab, https://www.x-labs.xyz) in the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, is seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Associate to advance cutting-edge research in machine learning (ML). Our lab explores the intersection of artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction, striving to create technologies that amplify human potential. The successful candidate will engage in innovative research projects in ML, focusing on developing novel ML algorithms, enhancing human-AI collaboration, and exploring systems tailored to dynamic, human-centered environments. They may also work with diverse signal modalities, including vision, speech, images, and physiological signals. Preferred Experience: The lab highly values candidates with one or more of the following experiences: Human-Centered Applications: Familiarity applying ML in areas like healthcare, education, neuro-robotics, and/or assistive technologies. Prior experience in physiological signal processing (e.g., EMG, EEG, ECG) is an advantage. Familiarity with HCI principles and frameworks, in particular, experience conducting usability studies and designing user- centric AI systems. Assistive / Collaborative Robotics: Interest in developing robotic systems for rehabilitation, assistive technology, or neuro-prosthetics, leveraging machine learning to improve precision and adaptability in user interactions. Knowledge of deploying robots in shared workspaces, focusing on safety, cooperation, and efficiency in human-robot teams. Multi-Modal ML: Expertise in working with diverse data types, such as vision, speech, images, and physiological signals. Experience integrating multiple modalities to build robust AI systems is an advantage. Interdisciplinary Applications: Leveraging LLM / VLMs for interdisciplinary problems, such as: AI-driven scientific discovery, automating hypothesis generation in finance / natural sciences / physical sciences, enhancing collaborative workflows in complex organizational settings. Qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD in Computer Science or related field, with no more than five years post receipt of the PhD. Experience in one or more ML domains, such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, or human-centered ML. Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python) and ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), with evidence in the form of public (Github) repository. Excellent abilities in communication, teamwork, and mentorship. Strong publication record in top-tier conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, CHI, CVPR). We design and deliver trials and related research, including coordination, monitoring, data acquisition and management, and statistical analysis. Our health economics, biostatistics, systematic reviews, and biomarker teams work with trial data to inform healthcare providers about best practices. The Clinical Trials Program Manager plays a pivotal leadership role within the CTC, providing strategic, operational and managerial oversight of complex clinical trials across their directed area of responsibility. Working under broad direction from the Associate Director, Clinical Trial Operations, this role oversees the design, establishment and delivery of clinical trials, ensuring the highest standards of quality, compliance, governance and performance are maintained. With responsibility for financial oversight and resource management, the role contributes to budget development, expenditure monitoring and funding opportunities, supporting the sustainability and growth of CTC's clinical trial portfolio. Drawing on extensive clinical trial expertise, the Program Manager provides trusted advice, exercises independent judgement and contributes to the development of systems, procedures and strategic initiatives that enable the successful delivery of impactful clinical research. Your key responsibilities will be to: Provide strategic and operational leadership of clinical trial operations, including trial prioritisation, feasibility, planning, resourcing, oversight, and compliance within the directed area of responsibility. Lead, manage and develop clinical trial operations staff, including performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, capability building, and fostering a high-performing, ethical and collaborative team culture. Establish, manage and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, including investigators, collaborative trial groups, funding bodies, partners, and CTC leadership, ensuring effective governance and reporting. Ensure high-quality, compliant conduct of clinical trials by overseeing adherence to ICH-GCP, regulatory and ethical requirements, SOPs, operational guidelines, and study-specific procedures. Monitor and report on trial delivery, quality, risk, workforce and financial performance, proactively identifying issues, implementing improvements, and escalating risks as required. Contribute to organisational strategy, continuous improvement initiatives, funding opportunities and ad-hoc projects aligned with CTC priorities and corporate objectives. About you postgraduate qualification or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Extensive experience in clinical trial management, with a minimum of five years' relevant experience leading clinical trial operations, project management or equivalent roles across the full trial lifecycle in Australia. Profound knowledge of ICH-GCP guidelines, regulatory and ethical approval processes, and demonstrated ability to ensure compliant, high-quality clinical trial conduct. Demonstrated leadership capability with experience supervising, mentoring, training and performance managing staff, including resolving complex HR and workforce matters. Strong financial and operational acumen, with experience in budgeting, financial oversight, workload prioritisation, and managing multiple competing priorities to achieve outcomes. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with strong negotiation, conflict resolution and stakeholder engagement capability, and the ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
