ABOUT XJTLU

In 2006 Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) was created by the University of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong University – a top ten university in China. ABOUT INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SCHOOL SUZHOU (IBSS)

International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is growing in size and influence in pursuit of its vision to be a leading international business school. The school is based on strong principles of internationalism, innovation, inspiration and integrity, which together ensure that we have a positive impact on society through our teaching, research and business engagement. In that pursuit, IBSS became the youngest business school to be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in 2016, and again, the youngest School to receive EQUIS accreditation in 2018. At present, the Finance Department has a team of 25 academic staff, publishing in high-quality international journals in finance and other business fileds and also maintaining a balance of academic research and professional engagement. All of our finance faculty members are PhD holders and some are affiliated with professional accounting and finance bodies such as the Certified Financial Analysts Institute (CFA) and CPA Australia. Members of the Department teach a spectrum of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Management, Marketing, Financial Mathematics, and Financial Computing, etc. The Finance Department currently offers two MSc programmes (MSc Finance, MSc Investment Management). The MSc Investment Management programme has received professional recognition from the Certified Financial Analysts Institute. In addition, a new MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation (FinTech Pathway) was launched in 2022.

RESPONSIBILITIES

XJTLU is a research-led university. In this context, even though the workload of faculty in IBSS is generally shared between teaching, research, and service, early-career faculty members are expected to spend the majority of their time on research, followed by teaching, then service. Research activities include the publication of research articles, attendance of international conferences, and applications for research funding. Research performance in the School is benchmarked on internationally recognized lists of journal quality such as the Academic Journal Guide (UK) – a.k.a. the ABS list – and the ABDC list (Australia). The target levels on those lists are ABS3/ABDC-A or above. Other than Research track faculty, we also welcome applications for Teaching and Practice track faculty positions.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES

Successful applicants to the position of Lecturers/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor are expected to have:


	A PhD degree in Finance or a related field,
	Teaching experience in higher education,
	A proven record of academic publications in good journals, or alternatively, for early-career academics, a strong pipeline of promising research.


Successful applicants to more senior professorial ranks are expected to also show:


	A significant record of high-quality academic publications,
	A number of external research grants awards,
	Experience in PhD supervision.


Desirable Qualifications/Experience


	Curriculum design and programme development experience,
	Teaching and/or research interest in finance, FinTech and/or data science
	Engagement with professional community,
	Professional qualifications (CFA/FRM and other equivalent finance qualifications).


Successful applicants to the Practice Track position (Associate Professor of Practice, Senior Associate Professor of Practice, Professor of Practice) are expected to have:


	A Master’s degree (a PhD degree for more senior positions) in Finance or a related field,
	Highly recognized industry professional,
	Experience in development of and contributions to consultancy for business, government or international bodies,
	Development and support of practice-based initiatives for student engagement with industry,
	Experience in securing industrial and/or government funding.

RESEARCH FUNDING SUPPORT

The Department of SMO, which encompasses the fields of HRM, International Business, Strategy, and Leadership, is set to become an independent academic unit with the beginning of the 2020/21 academic year, as a result of splitting the original Department of Management. At present, the SMO department has a strong team of 35 academic staff and 9 PhD students, publishing in top journals, such as Human Resource Management, Management International Review, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, R&D Management, Journal of Organizational Behaviour, Journal of Vocational Behaviour, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology and among others. Members of the department teach a large number of undergraduate students in business administration, international business with a language, and human resource management programmes as well as postgraduate students enrolled in the MSc Management or the IMBA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your Responsibility

The successful candidate will be be to lead and deliver individual and collaborative research in the area of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and make a contribution to the direction of research programmes in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The role will be responsible for generating new intellectual understanding/knowledge through the application of knowledge and for developing ideas for application of research outcomes. The Senior Vice-President, Academic will lead the overall strategic academic direction of SETU. They will hold the position of Deputy President and deputise for the President on any university matter. They will ensure that academic activity aligns with the mission, vision and values of the University and they will support the research agenda, playing a key part in accomplishing SETU’s academic goals as set out in the University’s strategic plan. The Senior Vice-President, Academic will have responsibility for academic resourcing and academic planning and they will guide the relevant Vice-Presidents in support and development of the academic experience of students and the research profile of SETU.
