Trinity Western University (TWU) was founded in 1962 as Trinity Junior College by a committee of members from the Evangelical Free Churches of Canada and America.
It has grown into the largest independent Christian liberal arts institution in Canada, with an enrollment of 5,000 students across all programmes.
TWU offers 48 undergraduate degrees and 19 graduate degrees, including programmes in business administration, nursing, counselling psychology, education, computer science and theology, among others.
TWU Access is the university’s multi-access model which brings online and face-to-face campus programmes together under one portal, to deliver teaching and learning to all students - regardless of their location.
The main campus - Langley - spans 157 acres and is close to downtown Vancouver, while the Richmond campus hosts programmes tailored to the international students in Richmond and Metro Vancouver. TWU has a site in Ottawa too - The Laurentian Leadership Centre, which is a one semester live-in academic internship programme for upper level undergraduate students of all majors.
There is on-campus housing available for 1,100 students including dormitories, community living and apartments.
It also has three institutes: the Centre for Equity and Global Engagement, the Dead Sea Scrolls Institute, and the Institute of Indigenous Issues and Perspectives.
The average class size is 25 students. The student body is roughly 75 per cent Canadian, 12 per cent American and 13 per cent international.
