Founded in 1852, Tufts University is a private research university based in Medford, Massachusetts, with two additional US campuses in the cities of Boston and Grafton – also in Massachusetts – and another in Taillores, France. 

Attracting nearly 12,000 students a year, it is a medium sized American university.

The Medford campus houses some of the university’s oldest buildings. It features the Schools of Arts and Sciences, the School of Engineering, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service.

The Boston campus is mainly centred in the Chinatown district. It is home to the Schools of Medicine, Dental Medicine, Graduate Biomedical Sciences, Nutrition Science and Policy, and the Human Nutrition Research Centre on Aging.

The Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine is based in the Grafton campus, comprising more than 600 acres of land and located to the west of Boston.

Its Taillores satellite campus is situated in a picturesque alpine environment and has been recognised by the National Association of Branch Campus Administrators as one of the best branch campuses.

Initially used to host summer camps, the Taillores campus was given to Tufts in 1978 and now caters for summer study programs, where students are encouraged to live with local families and immerse themselves in French culture and language.

Tufts University lays claims to more than 45 interdisciplinary centres that focus on research within a range of topics from medicine, science and technology, to animals and the environment.

In addition to its Taillores summer programs, Tufts’ students can also take advantage of the many opportunities to participate in full-year or semester-long programs at its various overseas partner universities.

Working closely with the Program Director of Indigenous Public Health and other members of the academic team, the position will have a role in teaching and academic administration of Indigenous public health units of study within the Sydney School of Public Health and Faculty of Medicine and health covering a variety of health and wellbeing topics covered by the curriculum. The University of Southampton is inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in gravitational-wave astronomy. The successful candidate will join Greg Ashton’s STFC-funded programme, Advancing Gravitational-Wave Astronomy Using Artificial Intelligence, to work on computational Bayesian inference methods and their astrophysical applications.  Southampton's School of Mathematical Sciences is home to a large research group in gravitational physics, comprising 9 staff members, over 15 postdoctoral researchers, and approximately 15 PhD students. Research in the group includes black-hole and neutron-star physics, gravitational-wave source modelling and data analysis, gravitational self-force modelling and numerical relativity. The group is involved in the LIGO Scientific Collaboration, the LISA Consortium, the Einstein Telescope collaboration and the Cosmic Explorer consortium.  Candidates should demonstrate a track record of research in gravitational-wave astronomy. The applicant will have, or be about to obtain, a relevant PhD degree in physics or mathematics.  This is a full-time post, available from the 5th of January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is funded for two years with the possibility of a 1-year extension. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. As a University of Applied Learning, the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) works closely with industry in its research pursuits. This position is situated within the Centre for Immersification, dedicated to applied research in immersive technologies and bridging the gap between academia and industry. Research staff at the Centre have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets relevant to industry demands while working on innovative projects within the university. The research team is seeking a Research Fellow or Research Engineer with strong expertise in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and social science methodologies to lead the user research and policy development, as part of an interdisciplinary team investigating harmful user-generated content in virtual worlds as part of a national research initiative on Online Trust and Safety. The primary responsibility of this role is to investigate users’ experiences with harmful content in these virtual environments, review existing reporting guidelines on these platforms, and evaluate users’ responses to alternative mechanisms. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of faculty members, engineers, and industry partners, including labs at the College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS) at NTU. Technical skills, natural curiosity, versatility, and enthusiasm are highly desired traits that will enable success in this fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Manage the research project together with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Conduct a comprehensive review of literature, existing safety policies, community standards, and moderation tools currently used in online social gaming platforms Design and execute surveys and interviews to collect data (including participant recruitment) to address the relevant research questions. Perform statistical analysis on survey/experimental data, and Conduct thematic analysis on interview transcripts and open-ended survey responses. To lead and report research findings in a form of high-quality publications and present in international peer-reviewed conferences and journals. Develop policy recommendations based on the research findings. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
