Ubon Ratchathani University is a public university in Thailand, which was founded in 1987 as part of the Khon Kaen University campus. It was established officially by Royal Charter in 1990.

The university has two main aims: to provide research to benefit the domestic and national community and promote cultural preservation.

The university has 10 faculties across science and technology, health sciences, and arts, humanities and social sciences, offering both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. These faculties are: agriculture; applied arts and architecture; engineering; science; nursing; pharmaceutical sciences; law; liberal arts; management science and political science.

Ubon Ratchathani University also has various partnerships with the international community, working to participate in global research and to develop teaching techniques used worldwide. The university also accepts international students from across the globe, creating a diverse student hub.

The university has a range of academic and extra-curricular facilities to help students develop their skills both inside and outside of the classroom. The campus has a sports complex, health centre and nursery school for both staff and students’ to enrol their children into.

The Ubon Ratchathani Province is located in the north-east part of Thailand, 600km from the capital of Bangkok. The province itself has a population of around two million and serves as an important area for agriculture with the production of tapioca, rice and fruits. The city itself is home to people of Thai, Lao and Khmer cultures, and is known to celebrate these cultures through its annual Candle Festival in July.

The province is known for its cultural landmarks, including its numerous Buddhist temples, such as the Wat Phra That Nong Bua as well as its National Museum.
