The Universidad Católica del Cibao has roots dating back to 1983 when it was founded as The Cibao Technological Institute (INTECI) with just 643 students, offering courses in medicine, law, education, agronomy, accounting and business administration.

In 1986, the Institute achieved the title of Technological University of Cibao (UTECI) before getting its current name in 2002.

At Universidad Católica del Cibao, students can gain undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate degrees within a wide variety of faculties, including: human and social sciences, health sciences, business and engineering.

For those wanting to study at master's level, students can specialise further with courses like human talent management, construction administration and governance and university management.

The Universidad Católica del Cibao has a strong alumni incentive, where graduates are invited back to mentor current students, and even lecture students within their specialties. The Alumni Association, in conjunction with the support committees, offers a series of exclusive services for graduates. The university holds conferences, seminars and workshops to develop and maintain contacts with peers.

In addition to the university's academic offerings, students are actively encouraged to get involved with events and activities on campus. There are plenty of clubs on offer for those with a variety of passions. Clubs include a choir and the folk dance group.
