The Universidade Federal do Vale do São Francisco has campuses across Pernambuco, Bahia and PiauÍ in Brazil with the main headquarters of the university located in Petrolina. The institute was created in 2002.
From 2015 its medical school has become known as a teaching hospital in Petrolina, the Hospital Universitário da Universidade Federal do Vale do São Francisco.
The university offers over 30 courses spanning across administration, public administration, anthropology, archaeology and heritage preservation, visual arts, computer science, biological sciences, natural sciences and social sciences among others.
