Basic information and contact details for the University for Development Studies
Located in Tamale, the third largest city in Ghana the University for Development Studies was established in 1992. It was created by the government who were keen to develop the country's northern, upper east and upper west regions.
Instead of a central campus the university is split across four campuses in different regions.
Across the four campuses there are eight faculties, a business school, medical school, graduate school, one institute and three centres. The first campus is Nyankpala in the northern region and is home to the faculties of agriculture, renewable natural resources, agribusiness and communication sciences and the school of engineering.
Navrongo campus in the upper east region houses the faculty of applied science and faculty of mathematical sciences. Tamale, also in the northern region, is where the school of medicine and health sciences, school of allied health sciences and the faculty of education. And lastly, Wa in the upper west region is home to the faculty of integrated development studies, school of business and law and the faculty of planning and land management.
The university also runs a programme called the third trimester practical programme, in which the whole third term is spent doing practical field work in local communities.
