The University of Macau (UM) is an internationalized public comprehensive university in the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) located at the west bank of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). The GBA is rapidly developing into one of the leading technology and innovation hubs of the world. In 2013, UM launched the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) (http://fhs.um.edu.mo/), which aims at providing excellent education programmes, performing outstanding research and delivering dedicated services to the community. FHS established the Department of Public Health and Medicinal Administration (DPM) that aims at fortifying the teaching and research in the area of public health, with particular focuses on traditional public health, hospital management, medicinal administration, infectious diseases, and data science. DPM now offers two academic programmes: Bachelor of Science in Bioinformatics and Master of Science in Global Public Health, in addition to the new academic programme, Doctor of Public Health offered by FHS since the 2024/2025 academic year.

DPM of FHS now invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in Public Health. The candidate is expected to have strong exposure in at least one of the following three areas: traditional public health, hospital management and/or medicinal administration.

Qualifications

A doctoral degree in related biological, health and/or medical studies. Candidate for Assistant Professor should demonstrate a high potential of excellence in research and teaching and is preferable to have at least three years of postdoctoral training. The appointment at the rank of Full Professor and Associate Professor depends on qualification and achievements of the candidate, such as the established international excellence in research and scholarship as a proven record of publications in high calibre international journals.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in 2024/2025.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting MOP1,250,200 (approximately USD154,350) for the position of Full Professor; MOP1,052,800 (approximately USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions. Faculty of Science and Technology - FST

Faculty of Science and Technology aims to provide programmes for undergraduate and graduate education with quality reaching international standard. Currently, about 90 faculty members from diverse international backgrounds serve in this faculty. Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, with a strong commitment to research and teaching. English is the working language, while knowledge in Chinese/Portuguese will be an advantage. DBS now offers two academic programmes: Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences and Master of Science in Data Science (with specialization in Precision Medicine), and supports the teaching activities in the General Education courses and the Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Sciences programme. DBS of FHS now invites applications for the position of Senior Instructor in Biomedical Sciences. The candidate is expected to have strong exposure in cancer research and/or animal science.

Qualifications

A doctoral degree in related biological, health and/or medical studies. Candidates with at least two years of working experience in teaching and research in biomedical sciences is preferable. A candidate who has a solid experience in animal science, using experimental rodents and/or managing animal rooms has an advantage.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in summer 2025.

The Department of Computer and Information Science (CIS) of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) invites applications for the position of Full/ Associate/Assistant Professor in Artificial Intelligence. It will be a joint position with the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) of the Institute of Collaborative Innovation (ICI). This position intends to complement and strengthen existing staff expertise. We are seeking candidate with a proven track record in scientific research, an innovative research vision, and a commitment to education.

FST is the oldest and one of the most vibrant faculties at UM, dedicated to student-centric education and cutting-edge research in engineering and science. UM is among the top 1% in Essential Sciences Indicators (ESI) rankings in both Engineering and Computer Science. In the THE World University Ranks, the Engineering programme is ranked among the 126th – 150th and the Computer Science programme is among the top 175, arising from its status of a local community college in less than 10 years. CIS, where the position is to be hosted, was founded in 1990 and currently has 36 academic staff. The Department offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degree programmes, which cover the main aspects of modern computer science and related technologies. CIS has equipped fifteen laboratories with advanced facilities and rich software tools for its students and academic staff to develop their course projects, final year projects and R&D projects. The programmes have extensive collaboration with other institutes around the world.

CAIR under ICI focuses on research on computational algorithms, vision and pattern recognition, natural language processing (NLP), human-computer communication, autonomous driving and intelligent robotics, which play a vital role in the development of Macao's smart city. UM established the Joint Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics with the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and further developed the UM branch of the national Super Intelligent Computing Centre in Hengqin. CAIR's core research areas include five main research directions: AI health, Human-computer interaction (HCI), Robotics, Metaverse and Computer Graphics.

Qualifications


	PhD degree in Computer Science or related areas.
	Preference will be given to candidates with specializations in AI for Science, or application of AI to interdisciplinary areas. 
	Strong background in Computer Science or related disciplines, and extensive research and teaching experience at the tertiary education level. 
	Good team player for participating in various aspects of the activities of the department, faculty, and university and serving the profession.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering or related areas. Preference will be given to candidates with research and teaching experience at the tertiary education level. To accord the future development, candidates with specialization in renewable energy, heat transfer in building services and additive manufacturing are preferred.
