Ref.: 533895 Work type: Full-time Department: School of Chinese (04100) Categories: Teaching Staff Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in the Chinese Language Enhancement Programme (CLEP) in the School of Chinese (Ref.: 533895),  to commence as soon as possible and no later than August 2026, on a one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds. The CLEP primarily aims to equip students with the requisite Chinese language skills for academic and professional pursuits. The programme offers tailor-made, discipline-specific practical Chinese language courses to undergraduates across all faculties within the University. Applicants should meet the following criteria: Hold a Master's degree, preferably a doctoral degree, in Chinese or a related discipline. Have at least 5 years of post-qualification teaching experience at the tertiary level, with a proven track record in teaching, and a strong commitment to education. Be capable of designing and teaching practical Chinese courses. Possess excellent communication and presentation skills, along with proficiency in Putonghua. Maintain a portfolio showcasing the application of AI and Information Technology in Chinese language and culture teaching. Preference will be extended to applicants who possess one or more of the following additional qualifications: Experience in language enhancement funded projects, such as UGC’s TDLEG or the University's teaching development initiatives. Experience in Experiential Learning (EL) and in organizing and leading EL programmes and student outbound activities. A high level of competence in written English. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the CLEP courses and working on language enhancement projects, together with some administrative duties. The appointee will be responsible for leading studies on immunological responses triggered by vaccination and viral infection. He/She will be expected to take a leading role in overseeing research projects and supervising junior research staff.
