Basic information and contact details for Sumy National Agrarian University
Sumy National Agrarian University was founded in 1977 as a branch of the Kharkiv Agricultural Institute. In 1990 it became Sumy Agricultural Institute, before attaining university status in 1997. Four years later it was declared a national university and was renamed Sumy National Agrarian University.
The university is located in Sumy, a city in northeastern Ukraine.
There are eight faculties at the university: biology and technology; civil engineering; engineering and technology; agrotechnologies and natural resource management; veterinary medicine; economics and management; food technologies, and law. Each faculty is divided into different departments, which offer a range of both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
Throughout the year the university conducts research in six main areas: economics and management, agronomy and biology, mechanisation, veterinary medicine, livestock, and public and private law. This research is published in several scientific journals and shared at national and international conferences.
In 1995, the International Cooperation Department was established by the university to oversee its international activities. Since then, the university has developed more than 150 partnerships with institutions in over 25 countries. These partnerships facilitate joint academic and scientific projects, as well as student exchange programmes allowing students to study abroad for one or two semesters.
