On the Times Higher Education Student Twitter feed (@THEUniAdvice, if you aren’t already a follower), we have spells where we ask students to look after the account for a week to share their university experiences.
Our latest student takeover was by Cherelle Malongo, a first year student at the University of Oxford, who has blogged for Times Higher Education Student about her foundation year at Lady Margaret Hall and finding her place at the institution as a black, working-class woman.
Now on starting her first year, she shares her experiences of fresher's week at the world's number one university, talking about social activities, exploring the university and finding her place.
Read some of her tweets below and follow the rest of her week at #UniAdviceWeek.

Just finished facilitating Equalities workshops! It was so engaging, and so much love to the Oxford SU for putting this together. ❤️❤️❤️#UniAdviceWeek

Just had a fun library induction. Ran around like a headless chicken trying to find books. Still feel #blessed to have such a large library with over 70,000 books. #bookworm #UniAdviceWeek

Yesterday was amazing! We went to a private party with a rooftop that has a great view of most of Oxford Central. After, went back to college for some delicious ice-cream. I love how our JCR offers alternatives to going out, owes to LMH being very inclusive. #UniAdviceWeek

RE: life-changing opportunities. An initiative that I've been following is @AccessOxbridge. They work by connecting disadvantaged students with current Oxford or Cambridge students. This is an excellent form of hands-on approach to outreach, and I urge all to follow them.

Just went to a fantastic megabrunch cooked entirely by our exec. The perfect treat to a hangover from this raucous week. But, even better, is that there will be farm animals coming over! #SelfCareSunday #UniAdviceWeek

There is so much to get involved in, as academics is only one part of the uni experience. I truly look forward to the various events and society sessions I'll go and involve myself in this week.

I do believe #thereisaplaceforyou here, for all who share a love of learning, passion and rigour. Freshers is a very small snapshot of what is to come this year, but I think I'll be alright. I hope my tweets will show that it can be a great place for everyone.
