A total of 20 German universities appear in the Global University Employability Ranking 2025, designed by the HR consultancy Emerging and published exclusively by Times Higher Education. The ranking reveals the universities that recruiters at top companies believe are the best at preparing students for the workplace.
The Technical University of Munich is Germany’s best university for employability. Another of the universities in the top five is also located in Munich, two are in Berlin, and the last is in Heidelberg.

1. Technical University of Munich
Germany’s top university for employability refers to itself as “the entrepreneurial university” because of its emphasis on close relationships with industry.
Many academics also have positions in companies such as BMW and Siemens, and students undertake research projects with employers in the area.
The Technical University of Munich offers 172 degree programmes across 14 departments. Each year, scientists from the university develop more than 100 inventions with industrial and commercial applications.
2. Humboldt University of Berlin
Humboldt University has been associated with 55 Nobel prizewinners, including political activist and writer Angela Davis, physicist Albert Einstein and philosopher Karl Marx.
There is a strong alumni network at the university, as well as a number of initiatives and clubs to keep alumni connected.
3. LMU Munich
LMU Munich was founded in 1472 and is Germany’s second-largest university in terms of student population.
The university has 18 faculties including law, economics, medicine and social sciences.
LMU Munich attracts a high percentage of exchange and international students. The city has many resources that students can take advantage of, such as the Max Planck Society and numerous global enterprises and start-ups.
