The University of Cambridge has secured the top position in the Complete University Guide 2025.
While the universities of Cambridge and Oxford maintain their grip on the top positions, there has been some movement further down the list. Goldsmiths, University of London, jumped 22 spots, and the University of Liverpool rose by six places.
In this year's list, there were some shifts among the top 10 universities. Imperial College London has advanced one spot, now standing at fifth place. Durham University has climbed two positions to claim the sixth spot, while the University of Warwick has entered the top 10, climbing one place to secure the 10th position. The University of Bath has experienced a decline, dropping three places to eighth.
The University of St Andrews remains Scotland’s top university, and Cardiff University leads in Wales.
Regionally, Loughborough University ranks highest in the East Midlands, and the London School of Economics and Political Science leads in Greater London.
Other top-ranking universities by region include Durham University in the North East, Lancaster University in the North West, the University of Oxford in the South East and the University of Bath in the South West.
The University of Warwick secured the top spot in the West Midlands, and the University of York in Yorkshire and the Humber.
