English universities with the most qualified academic staff
The University of Huddersfield tops list of institutions in England with the highest proportion of qualified academic staff, while London Business School is the worst performer

The University of Huddersfield has the highest proportion of academic staff with a known teaching qualification, out of 130 universities in England.
Of its 780 academic staff members, 90 per cent are known to have a teaching qualification. In second position is Teesside University, also in the North of England, with 84 per cent of staff with known teaching qualifications.
The data, collected between 2014 and 2015, were released by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (Hefce) and analysed by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (Hesa).
An academic staff members is counted as holding a teaching qualification if they hold a credit-bearing higher education teaching qualification, or another relevant teaching qualification, or have been recognised in other ways for their teaching expertise, according to Hesa’s definition.
Teaching qualifications are likely to factor in to the government’s teaching excellence framework assessment of UK universities, which will determine funding, tuition fee caps and student recruitment quotas.
At the bottom of the ranking is University of Cambridge.
Hefce states that “information about teaching qualifications has been identified as important to students and is seen as an indicator of individual and institutional commitment to teaching and learning”.
